Meet Our Staff
With decades of combined experience, Howes and Barnett have helped hundreds of clients as a trusted Kentucky law firm to get justice. Our approach is aggressive in court, but supportive with clients, because we’ve seen what you’re going through.

James ‘Jimmy’ Barnett’s path to becoming an attorney began in the injury law field, working as a litigation paralegal. It was there that he first managed cases, worked directly with clients, and saw firsthand the challenges injured people face when they’re up against insurance companies and legal red tape. That experience sparked a passion for guiding people through difficult times and ultimately led him to pursue a law degree so he could advocate for clients at the highest level.
After earning his B.S.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Louisville, Jimmy attended Northern Kentucky University’s Salmon P. Chase College of Law, graduating cum laude. Now, as an attorney, he draws on his years of real-world case work to deliver skilled, practical, and client-focused representation.
Jimmy is admitted to practice in all Kentucky state courts, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky.
When he’s not advocating for clients, Jimmy spends nearly all his free time with his wife and their two young children—usually outdoors, at the grill, or making the most of family time.
